TYVM
✳ For the people, by the people

You’re not the product. You’re the point.

TYVM answers to the people who use it, not to advertisers. Nobody, investor or underwriter, can buy a say over where it goes. And the plan is to let you help decide where it goes next.

✳ How it’s funded

Funded by its founder today. By you, we hope.

Right now TYVM is funded by its founder. The plan is to be funded by the people who use it. No ad money, and nobody buys a say. Here is how the plan works.

You

People chip in

The plan: a little from a lot of people covers the bills. Always optional, and it never unlocks anything others don’t get. Our own page for it is still being set up.

Local businesses

A plain line, not an ad

Businesses can underwrite one line of text in our footers, public-radio style. Never an ad, and never on your page. How underwriting works →

Never

Never a cut of yours

Your support goes straight to you. We don’t take a slice of it to pay for ourselves.

See exactly what it costs to run →

✳ Your say

The plan: you help decide what we build next.

We want to open up voting on where TYVM goes. The roadmap should come from the people who use it, not from whoever pays the most. We’re still working out exactly how, and your voice won’t depend on how much you give.

✳ Straight with you

What’s decided, and what isn’t.

What we’re sure of

  • ✳ No ads, ever.
  • ✳ Nobody buys a say. Not an underwriter, not an investor, not the biggest supporter.
  • ✳ Your voice isn’t for sale. Paying more won’t move you up the roadmap.
  • ✳ We ask for support, not donations. We’re a small company, and we say so.

What’s still open

  • ✳ Exactly how voting and governance should work.
  • ✳ Whether that grows into some form of community ownership one day.
  • ✳ We’d rather figure it out in the open, with you, than pretend it’s settled.
✳ Get involved

Come help shape it.

Follow along and we’ll tell you the moment voting opens, and when there’s a real say to be had.

✳ Fair questions

Straight answers.

How is TYVM funded?
Right now TYVM is funded by its founder. The plan is small, optional support from the people who use it, plus businesses underwriting one plain line of text in TYVM’s footers, never ads and never a cut of anyone’s support. Nobody buys a say: not an underwriter, not an investor, not the biggest supporter.
Will I get a vote on what TYVM builds next?
That is the plan, and how it will work is still being decided. Whatever shape it takes, a person’s voice will not depend on how much they give.
Does giving more get more say at TYVM?
No. A person’s voice will not depend on how much they give, and support keeps the servers on without moving anyone up the roadmap.
Will supporters own part of TYVM?
It isn’t decided. TYVM is a for-profit company today, and whether community ownership is possible is a legal question still being worked through, so TYVM would rather say so than promise it.
Is supporting TYVM a donation?
Not in the tax sense. TYVM is a for-profit company, so it says “support,” not “donate,” and supporting it is chipping in to keep a tool running.

Help decide where TYVM goes.

It’s your platform too. We mean that.
